    Hi!
I use IPTC standard to describe/catalog my pictures.
I plan use IPTC/Persons Shown to create mapping rule but I can’t found nothing similar on the IPTC values drop down list.
Is it possible to access this attr and map?

    best regards,
    Pawel

    Thanks for your question.

The IPTC dropdown list shows all the elements from the original IPTC specification dating back to 1999. Over the years a number of extensions have been added; these are not in the original format or the original list. They have been added to the more flexible XMP metadata standard. You can find complete information at this site:

    IPTC Photo Metadata Standard

Different image edit tools, e.g., Adobe Lightroom, display the metadata with different layouts and labels. I was able to find the actual element names and location in the standards document. You can try adding this template in the EXIF/Template text area for a mapping rule:

    template:([+xmp:Iptc4xmpExt.PersonInImage+])

You can get a more complete dump of the IPTC extension data with an [mla_gallery] shortcode like this:

    [mla_gallery ids=7478 post_parent=all mla_caption={+xmp:Iptc4xmpExt,export+}]

Where you replace “7478” with the ID value of the Media Library item you want to analyze. You can find more information about exploring XMP data in the “Field-level Substitution Parameters, Prefix values, xmp” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab.

I hope that gets you started on finding the data you want to use in your mapping rules. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding extracting IPTC extension data from our images. Posting a link to one or more of your images would be helpful if you need more specific help. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    Hi David,
    Thank you for reply.
I dig into MLA (and IPTC) documentation but I had misspelling shortcode parameters – your examples was very useful.
Finally I confirm my fault – I checked option “Remove Person Info” during Lightroom Export (and this attr was not present in jpg file)
I exported new files and template based mapping works well.
    THANK YOU!

I solved another problem (rather 99’standard feature):
When I used mapping IPTC field “2#005: Object Name” it was truncated after 60 chars ??
I changed it for template rule:
    template:([+xmp:Title+])
    ??

Again, thank you for your reply – It was very helpful.
