Is 777 safe for wp-content/uploads on my own dedicated server?

  • I have an install on my dedicated server, and the wp-contents/uploads folder is set to 777 (wp-content is 755), because I am not able to upload images in a WP post when uploads is 755. Someone in another thread told me that 777 for wp-content/uploads is not a worry since I am on my own dedicated server.

    Can someone verify this for me?
