This is a very nice plugin for granular at each forum level access control. I would like to know if it fully supports wordpress multisite features. My observations are as follows.
When you have assigned access control to different groups at the subsite forum level, groups are identified by the group number (group1, group2 etc.). Therefore, the groups are global to the multisite, irrespective of any subsite. This is a good feature, as you can manage access control across all users of the network. However, this is not obvious because subsite administrators can label groups differently with each subsite. (Subsite administrators may not be aware that other subsites have group mapping with the same group numbers.) It would be nice if the group labels are distinctly identified across the subsites.
Also, the plugin allows access control setting for anonymous users. But the same feature is not available for access to users of other subsites. It would be nice to have access control group for each subsite of the network, similar to the anonymous access control setting.
Finally, going back to my question in the title, it would be nice to include information on multisite support for the plugin in the documentation.

    Thanks for your topic.

Private groups is not multisite. Whilst I agree that this would be a good feature, I have no plans to make it multisite in the near future, as it would need a major re-write to achieve, and I don’t have that amount of free time to do so. Sorry.

I’ll add a note about not being multisite in the documentation on the next release

Thanks for the quick response, Robin. As I mentioned in my opening remark, it is currently working in the multisite environment, with the caveats I mentioned. I will continue to use it, now knowing its short comings and a work around. You may want to have a product FAQ explaining the short comings and work around. Other multisite administrators may find the short comings acceptable and still decide to use it.

You may also want to keep the multisite issue in mind when making further upgrades, so it does’t completely break it, even though you do not plan to explicitly rewrite the product for this feature. Better yet, you can make incremental enhancements such as supporting other subsite users at the same level of not logged in (anonymous) users. (Currently, they do not have any access, while the not logged in users may have higher level of access, based on the setup by the administrator.) I know I am pushing it. Just a thought! Thanks again.

Given you know exactly what you have done and how it works – any chance that you would like to produce some text for me to put on the plugin that would mean something to a new multisite user ?

“…Other multisite administrators may find the short comings acceptable and still decide to use it…” like me! Thank you a lot.
