Is blocking/perm blocking people helpful?

I love Wordfence and I don’t plan on stopping use anytime soon.
I see people frequently trying to log in to my site using “admin” as the user and I would manually perm block them using wordfence.
Some time ago I noticed that it conflicted with my cache in that regular users were getting the manual perm block page, even though I did not block them. The cache was serving them these pages. So I disabled my cache plugin.
This is what I would like to do – re-enable my cache, disable the login security feature on wf and instead replace it with something like a login limits plugin, that disables login after x-times but it does not open a new page so my cache would work with it. This would allow the cache plugin to work with wordfence, yes?
Reason I’m asking is because this would disable the perm block feature and those users that try to login with ‘admin’ would still be able to access the website. So I’m wondering does this really matter? Even though I’m not using ‘admin’ , would this make me more susceptible to getting hacked or lower my site security compared to if I had it on?
