is buddypreess for me ?

hii there , i m about to use buddypress asn plugin of wordpress, so can i use buddypress on my template or theme rather than purchasing 1 from wordpress , after using buddypress on my site , will it b a cms website , ll i able to add the adds( advertisings like ppc..etc, will i able to modify all or some part which i want to , ll i able to do server side programming to add the additional features which buddypress don’t provide , ll i able to view or monitored the database( mysql)?
