Is codex info outdated for nginx?

I was just reading the codex page for a nginx standard setup, and saw that the files use
blogs.dir(https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Nginx)However, according to https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Multisite_Network_Administration
blogs.dirhas been deprecated.Should the nginx doc page be approached with caution then?
