Trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting. Events Calendar has stopped working entirely and I’m not sure if it’s my PHP version, my theme, or something else.

    • I’ve got version 6.0.11 of Events Calendar installed. My understanding is that the NEXT version will not work without PHP updated, but this one should
    • I’m running PHP 7.3.31-1~deb10u3
    • I am using the Vantage theme which is up to date

I can no longer see the option to add an event from the WordPress sidebar. I can see the option to add an event from the menu bar when I am logged in and on the Events page, but when I select Add Event from the drop-down, I get an “Invalid post type.” error. If I try to go to Settings from here I get a “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” error.

This happens with any theme (including the stock WP theme) and with all plugins except Events Calendar disabled (and cache cleared). Again, just trying to figure out how to get started and making sure this is not how this is supposed to be working. Thanks for any advice.

    Hi there,

The Events Calendar plugin requires version 7.4 as the minimum PHP version. We strongly recommend PHP 7.4 or 8.0 be used.

You can read more about the requirements at https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/php-version-requirement-changes.

Thank you — the link you sent me said that 7.4 is suggested but the link from THERE says that 7.4 is required. As I can’t update PHP I will have to move to another plug-in. Thanks for the help.

    Hi @jessamyn

    Thanks for reaching out.

Our plugin’s minimum PHP requirement is 7.4. It is advisable to have this PHP version to ensure that all functionalities within the plugin will work as expected.

After upgrading your PHP version to 7.4 or 8.0, manually try to update your plugins and see if that makes a difference.

Let me know how it goes.
