Is it possible to add a notice to expired events?

    I like the idea of leaving past events up. I just wish there was a way to automatically add a flag to the top of the post or something that would indicate (YOU ARE VIEWING AN EVENT THAT HAS ALREADY PASSED). Users coming in through google land on old pages sometimes and don’t realize it.

    Apologies if this is somehow possible already and I just don’t know how to do it. My search didn’t turn up any results.

    **the link I provided will do no good for the time being, as I just added all events older than one year to automatically go to trash.

    I have not. I will cross my fingers and try copying/pasting that code into the functions.php. Just out of curiosity, is there any reason that feature could not be included in the general settings of the plugin?]

    Stepping back to your original question, there actually is such a notice already. Take a look at this ‘expired event’ from our demo site—you will notice it has a light blue alert box near the top of the page reading, “This event has passed.”

    Shelby’s advice was to help you further customize this but if you are not actually seeing it at all, possibly it has been hidden by your theme or by custom CSS, or something else along those lines? Looking at this event from the URL you shared I suspect this is indeed what has happened.

    Most probably, in your case, it is because you have custom event templates overriding our own. If you weren’t aware of this and didn’t add them yourself then it is quite likely that the theme includes them by default (in which case, I’d recommend reaching out to the theme author for further assistance).

    AH! That explains a lot. Thank you for taking the time to give me the heads up on that. You hit the nail on the head! Also, wow… the event page on your demo site looks a million times nicer than ours.
