I gave up on Google’s Blogger as any editing upsets the formatting and scatters the text. So I’m trying WordPress. But already I’ve run into a deficit of logic: there is no obvious way to delete an image from the library. Are website developers sadistic or am I overlooking something? There is no tool visible and right-clicking on the image offers no option to remove the image. What must one do to perform what should be a simple task?

  • In grid view of Media Library, select the image and, at the bottom right corner of the resulting edit window is ‘delete permanently’.

In list view, hover the image and select delete.

Thank you so much for that.

Is WordPress for programmers and advanced users? After posting a blog and exiting, I can’t find a way to log in. A Google search for “Login to WordPress” opens the support page instead. What chaos! Please do me one more favor and tell me how to access the Dashboard, so I can edit my post. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

You’re welcome. WP is intended for the full range of user-levels, but with the huge amount of flexibility and potential it has comes a certain amount of learning as well. You’ll get there!

To log in, try yourdomain.com/wp-login.php. Of course adapt this to your site, so if you have maybe domain.com/blog, add /wp-login.php.

Odd that WordPress has no login page. I was too stubborn to give up and wait, so I kept trying different commands. The following worked, adding /admin.

But the option you suggested also works. Thank you soooooooo much.

For future reference, support for WordPress.COM sites is here:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

www.ads-software.com (here) is not the same – see:

Sorry for the inconvenience. I made a note of the matter.

    Cheers!

It’s not an inconvenience at all. It’s just that there are some big differences between dot org and dot com sites, so it’s in your best interest to ask in the right place so we don’t send you looking for something that may not pertain to your setup. Best of luck with your project!
