Is it possible to go from blog to website?

I have had my website https://www.tbandu.co.uk for over six years. Updating was becoming a problem so I tried at least 8 cms but found them to time consuming too learn and too fancy for what I needed. However four days ago I came across wordpress. I have set up my blog at https://www.tbandu.co.uk/tbadvice.

I found wordpress very easy to set up.

I must state I have been to the pages section in the documentation in wordpress but do not quite understand it.
I have already set up a “static page” to become my home page. My question is: Is it possible to have lots of static pages? That way I would only need to add new pages as required. It present most of my “pages” are actually posts which I hope to the casual visitor look like static pages.
