Is it possible to have a button for activation so that to save API resources

Hello
I have used this app for 4 years, and now because the interest to my site went to be higher, so the google API resources soon will be over the limit of 200$. I need to know is it possible to have an additional button or something to activate the map.
The reason for this is because sometimes the map is loading slow, and not every user really needs to see and use the map. Is it possible the map to stay froze, and when somebody needs to use it, just to click on some button “Activate” or something similar to this? The purpose of this is for saving Google API resources.
I saw that in some other sites, but maybe they use another plugin.
