Is it possible to make the featured image and excerpt clickable to the post?

I searched the web and the knowledge base but get no luck. How do I make the excerpt and featured image clickable, so that people can go to the post by click on the image or excerpt, instead of click on the “read more” text (even the read more text is not working in my case, don’t know why.)
