In Google Calendar there is now the possiblity to add events without a set end time.
Would it be possible for these events to show up without an end time in the feed as well? (At the moment they show up with an end time 60 min after the start time. )

It is somewhat likely that the feed from Google just adds in the 60 min end time as a default, and that there is no way to distinguish between events without a “real” end time, and those that have a set end time, but I thought I would ask anyway.

Ps: I am aware of the shortcodes for the end times, that is not what I am asking for. I need to be able to display the end time for events that have a specified end time, but would like to exclude it for events without a set end time. Someting like a conditional shortcode like [if-end-time] or [if-no-end-time] would be cool though!

    Hi there,

thanks for bringing attention on this

Sorry maybe I didn’t look carefully – but how do you set no end time?

when I create a new event on Google Calendar it always prompts me with an end time (on both desktop and android mobile app) – If I enter no value there on desktop, it will automatically set it for 1 hour. Then there’s the option of all day event.

    Edit the date and time

Start creating an event (see above).
In the time section , touch the date and time to edit.
If you want to create an all-day event, switch on All-day.
If you want to add an end time or date, touch more options and Add end time. Touch to edit.

Tip: When you create an event, there’s generally no end time. But you can choose to have a default event length, like 30 minutes or 60 minutes, so that there’s always a default end time filled in.

I guess you might have to change the default setting as described here:
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/6084644#event_duration
    before you can see that.

Here is a test calendar with an event with only a start time:

Please note that the event will only show up with no end time on the Agenda view (otherwise it will have the default end time of 60 minutes. )

It is entirely possible that Google does not distinguish between times with and without official end times in their external feeds.

I see, I understood now thanks – it’s a bit obscure setting not so evident to find ?? but I figured out on both app and desktop version

I need to figure next if the API (using the simple api key auth) exposes that setting though or if the feed catches that up automatically

I am putting this in the to things to do while rewriting the plugin from ground up (still in progress)

thank you very much for pointing out this and sorry if I don’t have a speedy solution at the moment

ok got it, the API sends that information, I need to see if I can get the same information with how the plugin currently receives the feed

I’ll see if I can squeeze that tag you suggested in the next version (just read the changelogs to stay tuned)
