Is it possible to upgrade from 2.8.6 to 2.9.1?

    Just read somewhere that 2.9.1 has a different database structure. Does this mean that 2.9.1 cannot handle a database that was made by 2.8.6? Thanks for any advice!

  • You should be able to easily click on the automatic update. Most installations will have no issues whatsoever and the database will be “updated” accordingly.

    The upgrade process will automatically convert your 2.8.x database to the 2.9.x format. Just make sure to do a backup of your database before you go ahead.

    Ok thanks, everything went fine. Didn’t do the automatic upgrade though. After deactivating all the plugins I uploaded 2.9.1 via FTP and there were no errors whatsoever.

    Auto upgrade never works on my server ?? Like you I just upload and run upgrade and it works out fine.
