    Hello,

I have been using Shield Security (free version) for quite some time. Now I am having some issues with my website and I have to understand which plugin is causing it.

If I deactivate your plugin, could my website break/have errors? I mean, do I have to revert any changes I had made to my website through your plugin before deactivating?

    Thank you

    Hi,

If you deactivate Shield, it shouldn’t cause any errors or break your website. The plugin is designed to be safely deactivated without affecting your site’s core functionality.

Any changes made through Shield, such as security protections or configurations (e.g., firewall rules, login protection), will be automatically disabled when the plugin is turned off and re-enabled when you reactivate it.

You don’t need to manually revert any changes made through the plugin before deactivating it. Once you reactivate Shield, all your settings will remain intact, and the protections will resume as they were before.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you very much Jelena.

    One more question:

If I look at my WP Activity Log, I can see this pattern repeating a lot, almost every minute from different “Unidentified and not authenticated” (and sometimes also from BingBot and from Googlebot):

    LOG MESSAGE:
    WP Site Tagline
[Discovered] WordPress site tagline was changed from “Reggae Vinyl Records Store” to “Vinili Reggae, Benessere e Artigianato dal Mondo”.

    and some seconds later:
    WP Site Tagline
[Discovered] WordPress site tagline was changed from “Vinili Reggae, Benessere e Artigianato dal Mondo” to “Reggae Vinyl Records Store”.

What does this message mean? Is my site tagline changing?

    thank you!!

    Hi,

in addition to my previous question about the tagline changing every few minutes everyday, I would also like to ask:

    is SHield Security compatible with:

    1. Really Simple Security (formerly Really Simple SSL)
    2. WP Optimize

    Can they work together?

    Thank you!

    Warm regards

    Hi,

Shield tracks numerous core WP settings, such as your tagline (among other things). If your tagline is changing constantly, this is because you have a plugin/theme on there that is programmatically altering your tagline.

Why it’s doing that, is anyone’s guess, but something is doing it. But interestingly it’s not doing it for every WP load, only on some of them, which is why Shield detects it changing, constantly. You’ll want to find the source of the changes and determine why it’s doing that, and perhaps update the tagline of your site in your core WP Settings page to be the one you want.

To the question of compatibility, there’s no reason why Shield wouldn’t work with WP Optimise. As for running another security plugin alongside Shield, 1 security plugin doesn’t know what the other is doing, and we don’t support comparing 2x security plugins alongside each other. If you want to run 2, then you will need to take on the risk of that and potentially deal with any confusing or contradictory reports between the 2. We suggest you pick one and stick with that one.

Is there something you think is missing in Shield that you need from another plugin?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

thank you very much for all the answers!

Regarding the Simple Security plugin, I had activated it many many years ago (prior to Shield Security) when my website passed from http to https, I had chosen it mainly because it had the “Mixed content fixer” feature.

Not sure I need it anymore after all these years, I am just scared some errors might appear on my website if I turn it off. But I will need to contact them to find out.

Just so you know, the other features that are currently active on the Simple SSL Pluing are:

    >Mixed content fixer

    >301 .htaccess redirect

    >Vulnerability scan

    >Hardening
Prevent code execution in the public ‘Uploads’ folder
    Hide your WordPress version
    Disable user enumeration
    Block the username ‘admin’
Block user registrations when login and display name are the same
