• I read on my dashboard from a recent plugin showcase that it is not safe to post under a admin login. The plugin warned you to switch to editor to post. This is the first I had heard of this.
I did just upgrade to the 2.8.5 this morning and didn’t know if that was part of it, as it mentioned something about whitelist admin, although I have no clue what that means.
    Help anyone?

  • The thing about the default “admin” user is that somebody who uses brute force to crack your login credentials already has half the information (s)he only needs to guess your password. When you get rid of admin and have another user as administrator, they’ll have to guess both username and password.

    Gotcha! Thanks!

You can edit your admin account and give it a nick name and then set it to display that nickname. I set mine to display the same as my editor nickname in case I decide to post while logged in as admin. So the displayed admin name and the admin log in name are different.
