Is it safe to update after customizing templates

If I make changes to the templates in the Site Editor, where are those changes stored?

Hi @bshuchter what kind of changes are you referring to, I want to make sure we are on the same page.

However, any changes you make to your site’s templates within the Site Editor will not be removed during updates.

For example, in Appearance → Editor → Templates → Home, I added a second image block to the header and assigned custom CSS classes to it. The custom CSS was added to Appearance → Customize → Additional CSS.

If I can update the theme without losing these changes, does that mean they’re stored in the database?

Hi @bshuchter the theme structure for the TT3 theme is different from past themes.

The templates are post types that can still be found in the database, you can read more about how this works here:
