Is it save to use this plugin?

Hi,
I like this plugin, but am a bit concerned about the safety. It hasn’t been updates for a long time. Since 600.000+ users have installed it, it may be attractive for hackers to look for open doors to capture wordpress sites…I would like an assessment from the developers as to whether this plugin is safe.
