    Hello WooCommerce Community,

As we navigate through the digital landscape of 2024, it’s essential to ensure our plugins are optimized for efficiency and functionality. With this in mind, I’m reaching out to clarify an ongoing question regarding the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin and its dependency on Jetpack.

In recent years, there have been discussions and debates surrounding the necessity of Jetpack for the proper functioning of the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin. While previous discussions have shed some light on this topic, I want to confirm the current status of this requirement to inform my decision-making process.

As a user who values streamlined performance and minimal dependencies, I’m eager to understand whether Jetpack is still a mandatory component for the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin in 2024. If any updates or advancements have been made to eliminate this requirement, I would greatly appreciate insights from the community.

My ultimate goal is to ensure the optimal performance of my WooCommerce store while minimizing unnecessary plugins. Therefore, any clarification on this matter would be invaluable in determining whether I can proceed with uninstalling Jetpack.

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise in addressing this concern. Your input will not only benefit me but also fellow users who may have similar inquiries.

    Have a great day!

    Joanna.

The connection to?WordPress.com, which is needed, is managed by Jetpack, but the Jetpack plugin itself is not required.

With Jetpack, you can effortlessly safeguard your site against threats with automated malware scanning and secure login protection. Moreover, its built-in performance tools ensure blazing-fast load times, improving user experience and search engine rankings, and more.

    I hope this was clarifying.

    Hello @carolm29,

Thank you for your prompt response and for addressing my inquiry regarding the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin.

While I appreciate the detailed explanation of Jetpack’s capabilities and functionalities, I’m still seeking clarity on whether the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin itself requires Jetpack for proper functionality within my WooCommerce store.

To reiterate, my primary concern is to ascertain whether Jetpack is essential for the core functionality of the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin. Although I acknowledge the benefits Jetpack offers in terms of security, performance, and customization, I already have alternative solutions in place to address these aspects within my website infrastructure.

Therefore, I kindly request a clear confirmation regarding whether the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin relies on Jetpack specifically, or if it can operate independently without the need for Jetpack integration.

Your assistance in providing this clarification would be greatly appreciated as it will help me make informed decisions regarding the management of plugins within my WooCommerce store.

Thank you once again for your assistance, and I look forward to your response.

    Have a great day!

    Joanna.

    Hey, @niceneedle! ??

The Jetpack plugin is not required to use WooCommerce Shipping & Tax. You need to connect the WordPress.com account, which can be done via the Jetpack plugin, but can also be done without it.

    I hope this was clarifying.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

Can someone please verify what it means that the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin must be connected to WordPress.com?

My website is NOT hosted on WordPress.com. Does that mean that the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin is only for customers of WordPress.com who have their site hosted on that platform?

    Hi @sweetiowa,

I wanted to share my experience with you regarding the compatibility of the plugin with different hosting providers. I host my WooCommerce store on SiteGround, and I can assure you that the plugin works perfectly fine with it. You don’t necessarily need to host your site on WordPress for this plugin to function effectively.
