    Hello,

I’ve been using a plugin from wp.org for a couple of years and the developer has disappeared so I am slowly trying the official plugin and will soon update all posts with the old shortcode to the new one (ie. yours.)

    Now, two problems I have:

    1. Is link_id required in the shortcode or can I do without?
    2. Are you going to add geolocation to display the right right from the current visitor?

    Thanks guys!

    Laz

Thanks @amazonlinkbuilder – there is no issue that I am facing!

I just need to know whether or not the shortcode attribute linkd_id is required or not?

Because it’s the only attribute that I cannot just regexp-process from the old plugin’s shortcode to yours since it queries the API. So can I use the shortcode without link_id parameter?

    Hi lazharichir,

It will work fine for now. But we may plan some future enhancement around linkd_id so we recommend you to recreate shortcode using the Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin for at least those links which are creating most traffic now and always use the plugin to create shortcode for all new posts.

I would like to pick up this topic once again, as my AALB plugin does not seem to generate a link_id. All the shortcodes created by the plugin have an empty string as value of the link_id attribute.

So far I haven’t minded much, but now I am wondering if these ID’s are needed for the reports on the amazon associates web console, where in my case there don’t seem to be any tracking as to which link actually leads to a purchase (there have been only a few so far).

The PDF documentation I have only describes the link-id (sic) as “Unique identifier for every ad and/or link created using the Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin.”, but without mentioning its actual purpose.

Thank you in advance for any pointers.

    Sascha
