Is my website hijacked?

  • Using Google Webmaster Tools I discovered that over 300 external links on my site. All links originate from the same website (https://anthologyoi.com/), which I never heard of. I did, of course, not initiate the links. The links toe identifiers (my twitter account and my company’s website address. Any advice on how to remove unwanted external links and block future attempts to link again will be appreciated.
    I did post this here since the site (https://anthologyoi.com/) advertises itself as WordPress loves Ajax, so other users may be affected as well.

    I can’t find any reference to those links on your site. Do you mean that they link to that url?

    If they are all associated with twitter, could that point you in a helpful direction? I’m not sure how “followers” or “trackbacks” and “pingbacks” actually show up if you are posting all of your blog content to twitter (as you seem to be doing).

    These results are amazingly sparse inurl:www.ip-192.com

    I see a theme change between july 28 and aug 15 of this year. Is it possible that the old theme could have used a plugin or ajax feature that came from anthologyoi.com?

    Just a side-note… Will this //www.ip-192.com/robots.txt have any effect on indexing your blog, which is actually at //www.ip-192.com/blog ?

    I could not find any outgoing links on your blog that went to anthologyoi.com, I did find what appears to be a few in links to your site containing that url using yahoo.

    I’m stumped. ( that’s not really hard to do, though) ??

    Thanks for the response. The links showed up when I analyzed the site after moving it to a new host. I did use Google webmaster tools. They show 387 external links, and all links point ip-192.com from https://anthologyoi.com/. The links are not trackbacks; Google shows that every site on https://anthologyoi.com/ actually points to one of my sites. I’m a bit stunned as well.

    You are correct; I did change my website to a new WP-theme 4 – 5 weeks ago. I have removed most plug-ins and only installed the ones I’m using again with the new theme. I did not notice the file robots.txt before you mentioned it, but I have deleted it with no negative side effects on my site. I don’t believe that I have ever used a plug-in or any code-snippets from anthologyoi.

    To be honest, I have not noticed any negative effects on my site; I was just shocked to see 387 links popping up while analyzing the ip-192.com with the Google Webmaster Tools.

    I would suggest you to use SEO No Duplicate WordPress Plugin. This plugin that helps tell search engine bots the preferred version of a post page by specifying the canonical properly within your head tag.

    Why would you do such a thing? Simply because many black-hat SEO folks abuse duplicate content to gain search ranking and search engines try really hard to detect and penalize them. The last thing you want to do is present yourself as an SEO spammer to search engines.

    Thanks for the advice! I installed the SEO No Duplicate WordPress Plugin. I will see with the Google Webmaster Tools, if this stops.

    This is bumping an old thread, but just wanted to clear this up. I own anthologyoi.com and I can assure you it is not a spam site nor black hat. You were using an older version of the plugin AJAXed WordPress which added an optional footer to your blog advertising the plugin.

    Newer versions link to ajaxedwp.com instead of anthologyoi.com where I used to host the plugin, and only ads a link on the homepage.
