• Is my wordpress site and instance good enough for high traffic? I have a ami-358b475c just wondering if I upgrade to the max which is 2 cores and 1.7gb of mem, will that be sufficient enough to handle heavy traffic assuming I have very good bandwidth? Honest comments please.

  • Although a massive amount of ram and multiple fast cores helps to solve a lot of problems, they aren’t the most important thing to consider. The main considerations are what kind of content you are serving and how you configure your services to handle that.

My advice would be to hire someone to set up a server for you.

Server side caching, optimization httpd and php, removing unnecessary cruft from your server… That’s all stuff that goes into making your server robust. WordPress, in and of itself, is pretty good, but it’s impossible to define ‘heavy traffic’ since everyone’s content is different, and ‘heavy’ is pretty vague.
