Hello and very grateful for any assistance ??

I notice that my blog does not display well on mobile devices -seems to be one vertical line – I have received conflicting advice on how to remedy this. Firstly my googling suggested a WPtouch plug-in (one of many suggestions of course) but I was leery to do so since none of the options had been tested with WordPress 5.8 Next, I read that most likely, my (free) Quintus theme is not “responsive” but I cannot determine if it is or not.
I just want to know the very simplest way to display the blog at its best on a mobile device. If I DO need to change the theme, do you have any theme suggestions to best suit a writing blog that needs to be responsive and free …

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

Quintus is mobile-responsive, yes. The content being arranged in a single vertical column is how that responsiveness manifests – a mobile screen is not wide enough for your content area and sidebar to show next to one another, so this theme moves the sidebar to under the content area on narrower screens. Most responsive themes that have sidebars do it this way.

However, Quintus is no longer being maintained except for critical security updates, so we can’t guarantee that it will work correctly with the newest WordPress features, including the block editor and the upcoming site editor.

If I DO need to change the theme, do you have any theme suggestions to best suit a writing blog that needs to be responsive and free

There are over 4000 themes listed just here in the www.ads-software.com directory, not to mention the thousands more available from private theme shops elsewhere on the web. Theme choice is also very personal, depending both on your preference for how you want the site to look, as well as the specific set of features you’re looking for. So this is not really a recommendation I can make.

I suggest you use the filters available in the theme directory at https://www.ads-software.com/themes/ to narrow down the options based on the look and features you’re looking for.

Any newer theme listed there should be responsive, as designing themes as responsive, and even mobile-first, has been the standard across the web for several years now. To future-proof your site I would recommend you look at themes launched during the past two years, though, as those will be more likely to have full support for the block editor.

Thank you SO much KokkieH! Truly, this is a fantastic response and is immensely helpful. You are of course correct about all those theme choices (!) as well.
Cheers indeed you have made my day as well as saving so much time and grief:)
