    Hi,
If the migration is to a different URL, will the plugin change ALL the old URLs in the database, on ALL tables, for the new URL? For example “olddomain.com/es” to “newdomain.com/fr”? Or only the site_url and home from the options table?

Will I need to use the Site Tools – WordPress – “Search and replace”, after migration?

    Regards.

    Hello @pautgn,

If the source and destination domains are different, SiteGround Migrator will update all URLs in the database to match the new domain. The plugin will not only change the home and siteurl values, but perform search-replace too.

After you initiate the transfer, SiteGround Migrator will perform its checks and will notify you that the destination domain is different. Here you can decide whether to cancel the transfer or proceed with the primary domain change.

The full migration process is described in detail in this tutorial.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,
I’ve just migrated/cloned a site from a GrowBig Plan in Siteground to a GoGeek plan in Siteground.

But on the new site, there are a lot of URLs from the old website,… all the links on Elementor pages have not been changed. And the same for some images pointing to the old URL.

It has been a migration from domain/subfolder: temporarydomain.com/es to newdomain.com/es

And that links and some images are still temporarydomain.com/es

So it seems that SG Migrator has not changed all the URLs in the database…

    How Can I solve this?

    Regards.

    Hello @pautgn,

You can replace the site’s URLs through Site Tools -> WordPress -> Search & Replace. You can check the tutorial below if you need more information:

    https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/wordpress/search-replace/

After that, you can log in to your admin page and change the URLs for Elementor as described in their article below:

    https://elementor.com/help/i-changed-the-url-of-my-website-and-elementor-does-not-work-anymore/

    Hi,
But then SG Migrator has done “Search and replace”? Partially?

And does SG Migrator handles serialized data? Or Can there be issues with serialised data if some replacement has been done without taking into consideration the “character count” of that rows with serialised data?

And finally, the Site Tools -> WordPress -> Search & Replace handles serialized data? Because if it changes a URL but not the “character count” of a row with serialised data, as I understand that will invalidate that row…

    Regards.

    Hello @pautgn,

For our SG Migrator and Site Tools -> WordPress -> Search & Replace tool we use WP-CLI to do a serialized search-replace on the database. However, some hardcoded URL’s may mess up.

    Regards,
    Vladimir
