I am going to get a dedicated IP which also means that I have to get SSL and it will change my url from http to https is this going to have any bad effects that I should be aware of and prepare for?

    1. Going to a dedicated IP doesn’t not mean that you *have* to switch to SSL, just that you *can* do it. With that said though, if you choose to stay HTTP, at least take the opportunity to run your Dashboard over HTTPS: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Administration_Over_SSL

    2. If you do switch everything to HTTPS, it’s very likely that nothing will break, with a few exceptions:

2a. Images and media embedded as HTTP will be blocked by browsers when viewing the site over HTTPS. In general, WordPress will take care of this for attached media, but for the rest use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-search-replace/ to change those URLs to HTTPS.

2b. Some plugin or sever-level caches may not operate over HTTPS. This will have to be handled case-by-case. If your cache is no longer working, either stop using the cache or check with support for the cache.

I am using Hostgator and to get a dedicated IP you have to get SSL. I just hope it goes OK. Thanks I will check out the links you provided.
