• I’d like to redo my photography website, using WordPress as the CMS for both pages and the blog. It’d be a reasonably simple site:
    – Graphic header, with my logo
    – A navigation bar in the header with links to pages for prices, photo gallery, about me, contact form, etc. The pages would be quite simple, perhaps with a second set of options (eg under prices there could be wedding prices, portrait prices, etc).
    – Highlighted tabs or links to show what page the visitor is on
    – A blog, perhaps with the categories down the right hand side, perhaps under the main navigation header. I’d want the navigation bar to be visible.

Is there a guide to doing this sort of thing using WordPress? I’ve read the documentation, but it seems more focused on making blogs than whole sites.

I’m a developer, though more back end than front end. I’ll figure out the mechanics then hand over control to a designer, but my designer isn’t familiar with wordpress.

Just one note – i’d like to have the home page as a standard page, and have a blog as an option in the menu bar. Playing around i’m not sure how to do this.
