Is there a trick to control “repeat-y” height or length?

    The title say it all.
    I want to use repeat-y for an image but for a certain height or length, how can I control it? I am sure there is a trick to do that.

    Set the height or length to the element you apply that background to.

    doesn’t help keep repeating from top to bottom
