• I’ve been trying to add some links to my blogroll. Some of them have long URLs… 269 characters. When I add the link through the link manager, the URL gets truncated to 232 characters. Is this a bug in WordPress? MySQL? Anyone?

  • 269?! It’s not a bug: The link url field *is* limited to (optimally) 255 characters.

You can change this in the database, but from then on you’ll want to change the upgrade schema before updating WordPress, otherwise the links table will be reset and truncate those long urls. Perhaps a better option (in the long run) is to use something like TinyURL.

I don’t think I want to mess with the database. I’ll give TinyURL a try. Thanks!
