  • I don’t think there is any way to disable it at this point – the option only shows up when the snow is on.

Also, for future reference these forums are to support self hosted copies of WordPress, not the hosted option on WordPress.com. If you are unsure of the difference please check out the article WordPress.com and www.ads-software.com.

    There is. See https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/12/03/oh-my-snow/

Thank you, esmi, I will look at that link.

David, thanks for chiming in. You might have missed it in my question, but I do have a self-hosted site; it’s sharonwachsler.com. I’m still building it. That’s the site I want to prevent snow on; it doesn’t happen on my wp.com site.

Do you know what plugin you are using? The wordpress.com version may be rather different.

    Hi esmi.

I’m using Jetpack, and other than that it’s just Akismet and Bad Behavior. I don’t see “Let It Snow” on any of the settings pages that have been suggested, so maybe I don’t have to worry about it showing up on my blog?

And yes, it’s pretty different! I have gotten as far as I can on my own and now I’ll probably be haunting the Weaver Pro forums for a while while I figure out the rest. (I hope I figure it out!)

so maybe I don’t have to worry about it showing up on my blog

Correct. You’d have to install a snow plugin to get the same effect. Self-installed sites are far more configurable than wordpress.com sites and should never implement anything that you:

    a) didn’t want
    and
    b) don’t have the option to turn off or delete.

Ahh sorry, I missed the “wp.org” in your post, I saw the first mention of .com and thought that’s what you were talking about in the rest of the post.

    esmi, thanks for helping out.

No problem. It was After Gadget’s “snow” post on her wp.com site that started off an interesting discussion on the issue over at https://make.www.ads-software.com/accessibility/ And I’ve since pointed a couple of other people towards both the discussion and the original post in the hopes of stopping other sites implementing autoplay visual or audio plugins.

Yay! Thank you, esmi! You are my hero of the day.

I recognized your name from the Accessibility forum.

    OK, great. Thank you!
