Is there a way to enable an automatic minor update and disable a manual major core update? This is an interesting option, as minor updates have no impact in the compatibility of the platform, but major has!
If the button is there, the major update can be done, inadvertently, by an inexperienced user.

    I noticed that:

? If I turn on WordPress Core Updates and also turn on Minor Releases, both are enabled
? If I turn off WordPress Core Updates, both are disabled
? If I turn on WordPress Core Updates and turn off Minor Releases, only major updates are enabled (manually, off course)

But, what would be the combination to achieve the option I refered?

I also notice that a simple checkbox in the first column would solve this impossibility, as follows:

      |x| Hide major core updates buttons and warnings from the interface (automatic updates are not affected)

Just to get this straight, you are trying to disable major core updates while having minor core updates automatically update?

I have found that turning off automatic updates for core and enabling automatic updates for minor versions works for me.

For Matthew: Yes, I am trying to disable major core updates and enable minor core updates.
And minor updates, as we know, can only be done automatically.

For Ronald: How did you do that? Because,

      – turning off automatic updates for core means “switches 1 and 2 off, in the second column.” and
      – enabling automatic updates for minor versions means “switch 1 on”, in the second column.

How can the switch 1 be off and on at the same time?

Please checkout this screenshot for my settings.

Leave Core updates alone in the 1st column and disable the automatic updates in the 2nd.

I did that, but it seems to me that it disables only the automatic major update, but not the manual major update.
In other words: I am still seeing the button to run a manual update in Dashboard|Update.
With this button there, a major update can be done inadvertently, by an inexperienced user. And I want to avoid it.

Ah, I see what you mean now.

Yes, disabling the core updates disables the automatic updates also.

Let me do some testing and get back to you, as what you described above should work.

    Okay, I can confirm.

If you disable Core Updates, and de-activate automatic updates for major versions, and activate automatic updates for minor versions, the site will still update to minor versions, but skip major ones.

Ok, so next Monday I will set this configuration in my installation.

It would be interesting if this possibility, achieved by an unexpected combination of switches (it confused even you!), could be more clear/obviuos to the users, perhaps in the form of a small addition to the information texts of the interface (most people do not even know about the existence of the help text).
Otherwise, people will think the plugin does not have this resource.

    Awesome!

We’ll consider adding more documentation. Thanks for the feedback.

My last (and the most simple) suggestion: as the switch WordPress Core Updates does not turn off the minor updates, why don’t change its name to WordPress Major Core Updates?

It is impossible to be more clear!

Ronald, I am sorry to say that but, I used your suggested configuration as follows
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/78474163/Easy%20Updates%20Manager/001a-does-not-work.png
and it did not work: my test installation did not updated automatically from 3.9.3 to 3.9.10.
I checked the installation with the plugin Background Update Tester and it returned me the following informations:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/78474163/Easy%20Updates%20Manager/001b-does-not-work-checked.png

So, I turned Core Updates on, as follows.
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/78474163/Easy%20Updates%20Manager/001c-works.png
Then, the Background Update Manager info screen changed to:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/78474163/Easy%20Updates%20Manager/001d-works-checked.png
Only after this modification, the automatic updates took place.

Note: before you start your tests, you must disconnect your computer from the internet. Nowadays, the automatic minor core update is so fast that it starts as soon as you install your new WordPress installation.

Connect again only after you install (manually, off course) Easy Updates Manager, with the settings you suggested me and Background Update Tester.

    Hi Ronald,

    Thanks for the great plugin.

My issue is similar to the one reported by Aldemar: I want to enable only the minor updates.

If I check All Updates but uncheck WordPress Core Updates, nothing happens, despite Minor Releases (in Automatic Updates box) is checked.

If I check All Updates, WordPress Core Updates and Minor Releases, I get the desired result, but I also get un undesirable effect: if I go to the wordpress update page, the buttons to manually update major versions become available. Notice that if I uncheck WordPress Core Updates, these buttons disappear.

In short words: I have All Updates and Minor Updates checked. If WordPress Core Updates is unchecked, the buttons in wordpress update page are not shown, but the minor update does not work. If I check it, the minor updates work, but the buttons become visible.

So it would be nice to have All Updates, Core Updates and Minor Updates checked and also the manual update buttons hidden in wordpress update page. If you prefer not to do it by default, at least you could add one more option in Manage Options page asking if the user wants to hide those buttons.

    Thanks in advance.
