Is there a way to make the newest first on the post threads?

Not sure of my terminology here. but I was wondering if the threads (the responses to the topics) could be newest first.
In my world the topic is the same but whatever happened yesterday is not important so I want the topic to start with the most current Thread.
The topics are in newest order first but the when you go into the topic you have to scroll to the bottom to see the latest answer.
Any help would be appreciated.
