Is there any recourse to being banned from IRC?

I’m not sure if any of the IRC admins roam the boards. Mr Nacin occasionally pops in, so he might be able to help.

Hmm, anything that can be done here? I would really appreciate an unban or at least an explanation. Didn’t mean to disrespect anyone, just don’t like being disrespected.

You were being very confrontational and rude. I’d have kickbanned you too.

BTW, he was right, there’s no inline styling on your page. However, you do have some javascript code that adds styling to the nav elements of your page. WordPress isn’t adding that code, it’s probably in your theme.

Well I don’t see where you were called a liar, but one of the Don’t rules states you aren’t to “Swear and use potentially offensive language”.

Maybe try the contact link at https://sivel.net/ and explain and/or apologize to see if that helps your case.

By directly contradicting something someone says you are, in every sense of the word, calling them a liar. It’s offensive to do. It’s much more polite to say “I don’t see them” or something. For god’s sake, the page had several hundred lines of code. He couldn’t possibly have looked through the whole thing in that amount of time.

Maybe he didn’t mean to be rude. I’d be surprised though. It sure came across that way. I re-read the conversation that was posted and I got pretty upset with his attitude all over again. He directly contradicted me, and when I asked him not to, he simply did it again, with absolutely no explanation to it. I consider that trolling. And the fact is, he was wrong. The problem wasn’t a WP problem in the end, but there WERE inline styles (obviously, they’re gone now).

Either way, I didn’t break any rules, unless you consider “hell” offensive. That would be a stretch though, I’ve seen much worse in there. Frankly I’m not going to apologize to Sivel. I still think he was out of line, even if my reaction wasn’t ideal, it was reasonable given he had just been very offensive and I didn’t blow up or use any actual profanity.

What was I supposed to say? Oh, you’re right… sorry, I guess my text editor is arbitrarily messing with the code when I hit view source again! Or yeah, you’re right, must be bits of dust shaped like inline styles in my eye blocking my vision of the real code.

I try to be really appreciative when I get genuine help, and I try to offer help to others as often as I can. But nothing he said was helpful. He was just trolling me.

So, I guess I can forget about this channel.

I’m not seeing the “very offensive” from sivel, but maybe I’m missing something.
