is there anyway not to display all child pages at drop down attribute menu?

-Parents
|-sec Parents
|–third parents
|—Child 1
|—Child 2
|—Child 3
|—Child 4
and so on….

my web site is basically made by pages and structure is like above.
but the problem is there is too many children.
so that make me very difficult to find correct parents when creates new page.
is there anyway not to display the Child?
maybe using custom field?
