    Hi all,

I am working on a client image proofing system where the user has to choose which photos they would like in an album.

I currently have the premium version of ngg voting and was wondering if there was anyway to let a user ‘unvote’ after they have ‘voted’ on a specific image

This would allow clients to unselect a photo if they have accidently chosen it by mistake.

    Cheers

    Hi adamb123

Unfortunately there currently isn’t a way for a user to ‘unvote’ their own selection. The premium version does allow you (the site admin) to delete individual votes from the ‘manage gallery’ screen in NGG (see here for more info and screenshots).

Is there anyway i can code it in myself?

If not, I would be willing to pay for this? Could you do it for me or is it simply too hard?

    Cheers

The big problem is with making sure people don’t un-vote votes that weren’t actually theirs to begin with.

If you are forcing your users to be logged in to vote, it’s not a problem.
But if your users are voting anonymously, then there might be ways to manipulate other peoples votes. And that is too unsafe for me to consider adding at the moment.

Are you using the option to force people to be logged in to vote?

Yes the people who would be unvoting will have had to have access to the gallery via a wordpress password protected page, so noone can anonymously ‘unvote’ other peoples photos, if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately the page password protection doesn’t really integrate with WP users at all, so the voting plugin still sees those votes as anonymous. The only way to possibly consider the un-vote feature would require you to have ‘only allow logged in users to vote’ option checked. And even then, I still need to actually write the feature ??

It is on the todo list for me to look into at some point though, so thanks for the feedback

I would be willing to pay for this feature, would you be able to dicuss more over e-mail?

Send me a mail to shaunalberts AT gmail DOT com, and we can continue the conversation.

It would be a great idea if the user can set their vote without locking it in. This could be done in two ways:
first, using a vote button per image – set your rating first then click vote.
second, using a timed locking system – the user can change their vote for a preset time period (10 seconds?), after that their vote is locked in.

    Hi Chris

Thanks for the feedback, I will take it into consideration. Off the top of my head, I think it would require quite a lot of work to get done, so I don’t think it’s going to make it into a near-future version, sorry ??
