Uploading multiple images on a page dedicated to image displays seems to just post image thumbnails in a cluster.

Can a WP page be set up to display USP submitted images in a more flexible arrangement, like different/positions, or slideshow, etc?

I can do that with normal image insertions from the back end in a typical blog — there is great flexibility for setting up galleries.

Is any of this flexibility possible for a USP submitted image?

    Thanks!

    Hi @vtpress,

    Glad to help.

It really all depends on your theme and how it is set up to display images. Here’s how it works:

    • USP enables users to submit content like posts and images
    • All submitted images are added to the WP Media Library
    • From there, it is up to your theme to display the images as desired

So best advice is to ask your theme provider for help with how images are displayed. They will know best which changes to make, and so forth to achieve your goals.

I hope this helps, let me know if I can provide any further information.

Hi Jeff, and thanks for the reply.

I’m using the Twenty Seventeen theme.

I do know that images are loaded into the media library by USP.

What I’m asking is, can I set up a page format for USP submitted images to load into as a gallery that is a little more advanced than a simple cluster of thumbnails?

I don’t see a way to do this.

Yes images can be selected from the library and entered from the back end into a great variety of gallery and presentation formats on any particular page in this theme (and others).

However, I don’t understand (yet) how to have a pre-set format in a page that USP images would automatically align with as they are uploaded in a post.

Is this possible — in any theme?

Thanks again for your understanding and help.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for explaining. Yes it may be possible IF the theme supports it. It’s just not something that the plugin tries to do. Instead the plugin focuses on enabling users to submit posts and images. From there, displaying the submitted content and images depends entirely on the theme and how it is coded, etc.

That said, the plugin does provide some image-display functionality:

    • Automatically display images – when enabled, any images that were submitted are displayed with the post on the front end
    • Gallery Shortcode – displays a gallery of all submitted images for the current post
    • Featured Image – when enabled submitted images will be used as post thumbnails aka Featured Images

Anything beyond those features would need to happen via the theme template, or custom plugin. More information about any of the above features can be found in the plugin documentation, just fyi. And of course if any questions, let me know. Glad to help anytime.
