    I have a reasonably quiet blog, not a lot of readers and have never received a trackback or a pingback, so I’m not sure if this is one or not! In my Settings -> Discussion -> Default article settings I have ticked the box “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)”

    I posted this page about quinoa recipes and very quickly afterwards received a comment for moderation. To comment on my blog you must register, and I only have 6 people registered – only 2 are people I have not met face to face. The only text in the comment was

    The link that was given by the “Author” is to here and the text on that page is a cut and paste of a portion of my own.

    Is this spam or friendly?

  • Ping or Trackback, however in either case WordPress adds nofollow to their links. It can’t hurt your site in anyway. Also going to the site that links to yours doesn’t have nofollow rule, so this can be beneficial to your site as the possible backlink.

    At the moment the comment is in my Spam (I use Anti-Captcha), so should I just allow it then?

    Yes, freely ?? they would go into spam regardless. They don’t need the form to do this, because it’s done the different way. Better spam contol for future references is Akismet from WordPress.
