• Hello. I want to do something similar to: one website that display let’s say all news from the current day on frontpage. There will be categories too. As a user, i must register to the site and then post the title of the news, a little description, my site. Let’s suppose that the user wrote that news on his blog and now he want to post just the title and a little description (like “Seen at https://www.domain.com). The news displayed in the frontpage will be the ones added in that day. Is that too complicated to do with wordpress or should i go from zero? Thx.

  • I’m not sure I understand what you want. When you say all news from the current day on the frontpage, do you mean aggregated news items? Or content that you add yourself? In other words, all things from YOUR blog’s “news” category?

As a user I must register? Okay, well, you own the site, right? So you are admin. Are you saying you want everyone to register to view your blog or do you want registered users to be able to add content?

And I’m not understanding when you flip flop back and forth between a user on YOUR blog and then say user wrote that news on his blog (emphasis mine). Are we talking about your blog and then all the users of your blog .. their blogs too?

Or are you trying to build some kind of community with WP?

Thx for your reply. Let’s put this simple:
“Blogger X” is writing on his blog about apples. He is really proud of his post.
He come on my site (you can see my site like digg.com if you like), he register, then he must complete a form with: post title, a little description, name, website, mail. After that, his post title will be displayed on my frontpage. If “guest X” like “blogger X” post he will give him a thumb up or 5 stars (anyway a voting system). At the end of the day, the most voted post will win something. When someone click on his post he will see the title, description and the url to his blog or post url, whatever she entered.
    It make sense now?

People will register on your WP site to be able to post there. — doable. Use the Role Manager plugin to specify exactly how many rights/privileges users will have. You may need a second layer of users to monitor the posts.

You can use custom fields for the website URL and email address. The rest (blog post title, any tags or categories, description of the post) is plain vanilla WP.

Use the Votio plugin to allow users to rate the blog post.
