Is this theme being maintained? And if not, then what?

The Wordfence security plugin has flagged this theme’s companion “Sinatra Core” plugin as abandoned, since there have been no updates to it since February 2021. I see from the plugin’s support page that it – despite its name – is not actually required to run the theme. However, the theme’s last update was only 2 months later than the plugin’s last update, so soon it too will be flagged as abandoned, and users are already wondering about how secure it is if nobody’s monitoring it, not to mention at what point it may stop functioning with newer versions of the WordPress core.

There is no author link on either page, and if I try to access links in old support replies, I get a security error. What happens when a theme with 40,000 active users is abandoned by its author? Do WordPress volunteers step in to update the theme, or are those 40,000 sites just out of luck, and faced with the choice of whether to chance keeping the theme, or rebuild their site with a different one??
