• I’m using “Almost Spring” by Becca Wei as the theme for my neighborhood park blog. https://www.malcolmxpark.org So far it’s great, but I’m starting to think some images of the park would be great. Also, can anyone recommend a weather plugin or widget? I want to put a clean little weather report on the front page. I’d also like to have some kind of Reminder at the top of the page that I could update periodically. Basically I’d have the regular posts scrolling below this, but this would be fixed and have something like “Reminder, this weekend is xyz event!” or “The next event in the park is on xyz date” Any suggestions for how to do that?

  • Which of the weather plugns did you try? (after doing the diligent search in the codex > plugins section)

Again, search for sticky, adhesive, announcement and similar keywords.

Thanks for the response, I decided it wouldn’t be worth putting the weather on there since most people interested in the park would be from the immediate neighborhood anyway. But I did add a calendar and was easily able to find an “announcement” plugin that works great (Awsom news) though I’d sort of like it to have a visually rich editor component…

I like the nice clean look of your site. Header images are nice but since you’ve got a bunch of pics and videos on your site, maybe it’s not that important?

Although if you had a few good photos of your park in different seasons, wouldn’t it be neat to have different header images for different times of year!

Should be pretty easy to hack into your theme and just add an image to the header if you wanted to.

That’s a great idea! I’ve toyed around with adding a header image, but the site is already so image heavy. Plus I’m a little worried about the “hacking” part.
