is_tax help

Hello, i have a listing directory website, and i want to be able to use conditional tags (through widget logic), to make specific widgets to appear on the page with the categories.

The categories for the listings have their own place to be created rather than the classic posts categories.

The categories page has its own sidebar.

I tried using all the conditional tags available to make a widget appear on the specific sidebar and the only one that seems to work is the is_tax() tag. (of course if i dont use any conditional tags the widget will appear)

But when i want to make the widget appear to a specific category only i fill the is_tax(), with the name of the category or its slug but it wont work.
