Issue: Posts automatically deleted

    The posts in WordPress have been deleted automatically. They are no longer in the trash and when I checked the database, they’re all gone. When I restored from a backup, I recovered all of the posts again. I repaired the tables. They’re all gone again–completely wiped from the database.

    Could there be something in the WordPress core that is causing this problem? I contacted my web host, Media Temple, and they said this sounds like an issue with WordPress.

    Any advice will be helpful.

  • No – this sounds like a server issue.

    (mt) Media Temple will never delete posts in your WordPress blog. With the limited information I have right now it is hard for me to diagnose this issue. If you call in to (mt) Media Temple, which it sounds like you already have, we will take a look at your server and see if we notice anything that might be causing these posts to disappear. If the agent didn’t see anything when you called in, then the only other conclusion we could come to is that a theme or plugin is creating a process that causes this. You are welcome to call back in to (mt) Media Temple and give us more information you think might be useful to us helping you. We’re here 24/7 and are eager to get get to the bottom of this for you.

    Hey Drew,

    Thanks for the response. I decided to migrate the WordPress content to a new database and new WordPress installation just to start everything off with a clean slate. This will ensure that there is no data from old, deleted plugins left over in the database or anywhere else–unfortunately, some of these plugins leave tables in the database even after being uninstalled.
