Good Day, I know that my query is for the Ascend theme and possibly doesn’t belong in this thread but because I can’t find a relevant thread (possibly because Ascend is quite new), I will use this one for now. If there is one, please move it for me.

My question is regarding a JQuery error.

I have a plugin installed which uses a modal box when it is clicked on. When I click on it, the Modal comes up for a split second, then disappears again. My plugin support advised a JQeury error and in my Developer Tools it seems as such too.

I switched to a standard WordPress Theme and the issue went away.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Kind Regards.

    Hey,

yeah there currently isn’t a forum for the free version of Ascend. It’s still awaiting approval from the admins here. We’re planning on getting a free forum up and running in the mean time on the theme’s documentation site.

Which plugin are you using? Can you post a link to your site so that I can take a look?

    Thanks,
    -Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

Thank you for the prompt response!

And well done to you guys for the Theme by the way, I really love it and many will too!

The Plugin is Essential Real Estate

I’m building my site on a Local Server at the moment so nothing in the air yet. I could possibly take a screen shot, if it would help or if you could tell me what you may need from the screenshot.

I read this morning something about two Java instances that cannot run together on the same page (which I do understand seeing as though I have had a similar issue with my Maps API before). I did de-activate the site’s search in the menu to check as this is the only Java Script (Well I think it is) on the page.

It behaves exactly like the double java script instance. I would remove the instance in the code (as it only needs one to run both) but I am a little scared to tamper with these files…

Without a link it’s tough to determine what the issue may be. Can you share the errors you’re seeing here?

If you’d like to share some screenshots, a good host for images can be found here:

I know, it is a bit tough..

I have taken a screenshot of the split second that it comes on and disappears again (although I know that it won’t help you at all)

If you plan to check out the plugin, it’s Essential Real Estate (in WordPress Installer), load the Advanced Search page (which the plugin automatically adds) and simply click on “Saved Search” Button at the bottom of the Search Box that that Plugin Added. You will notice the same instance immediately.

If not (as I know it takes time to go through the above)…

My site will go live in the next day or two, maybe then you can have a look?
I will let you know as soon as it’s ready..

I really appreciate your help though, this being the Free Version…so Thanks a Lot!!
    Will be in touch soon!

    Kind Regards

    Hi,

Just an update, it seems as though the Ascend theme can’t handle any Modals, I checked and found the same issue as before with my login and register Modal Screens as well…so the issue is a bit more generic.

I had a look on the Pinnacle Theme, I like it a lot actually but doesn’t it have sidebars on normal pages?

    Thanks

    (@boombuzzer)

    Hey Guys.

OK, so please ignore my previous question about the sidebar on Pinnacle. I hadn’t noticed the setting on the actual page as most Themes just have a narrow application in Widgets.

This is quite handy adding it on the page like that – No special widget required – I like! ??

    Thank you,
    Kind Regards.

    Hi Ben,

I hope you guys are doing well.
Tell me, have you guys found a fix yet for my previous issue with the Modal not working?

    Let me know,
    Kind Regards.

Phew…ok…well…nevermind then.. Hollow Emptiness of my own voice…just echoing..help…help…help.. Hey but it’s ok.. I know this was free support, I didn’t actually expect a response the first time round… Thanks though

    Hey,

Apologies for the lack of response! I really don’t know how I overlooked your thread, but I assure you it was not intentional!

How are you adding the modal? Can you walk me through it so that I can try to duplicate the issue?

    Thanks,

    Hey Kevin,

    No worries ?? Understood ??
I think my explanation should be in the thread but what happens is that I have a Real Estate Plugin that pops up a Modal at a certain feature when it is clicked. In all of my Themes it works great but not in the Ascend Theme… It comes up for literally a split second then disappears… Kind of like a flash…

I think Ben did say the last time that he was going to work on a fix for the issue.

I sort of worked around it in the meantime by using the Pinnacle Theme which hasn’t been too bad, but I must admit that I preferred the Ascend Theme. This is why my query randomly popped up again now recently as the website is in the air and not officially launched yet which means I’m still ironing out issues here and there before going full on. That being said, the time is nearing and figured while I have some to do stuff like change themes if needed, this would be a good time. My first pick was always Ascend but as mentioned before, the Modal..

If you need temporary access to troubleshoot…just let me know and I will create an account for you. I am not quite sure how to give you a private response on here with the details if you need it, so advise if and how you would like to do this.

I hope the above info helps, and have a great day further.

    Thank you,
    Kind Regards.

    Sorry Kevin,

One more thing. I am unable to create a sidebar widget in a certain type of post. Basically, when a Real Estate Property is posted, when you go into that property, like this: https://www.propertynow.co.za/property/two-bedroom-apartment-in-brakpan/

You will see that the page is site-wide which I would like for it not to be as I want to add (or at least if I prefer) have a sidebar to this particular type of post.

I know that the Theme does all of it’s work well, normal types of posts I would obviously be able to easily add a sidebar to but I really am unable to do it with this type of post (every real estate property) as I can’t actually select the option as it isn’t available.

This leads me to understand that the issue probably isn’t with the Pinnacle Theme but could you point me in the right direction? The Real Estate Plugin Developer is also very sure that the issue lies elsewhere as I have already asked them.

    Let me know.
    Kind Regards

    Bruce

    Hey,
What version of Ascend theme are you using? There was an update a while ago.

You would have to use a child theme to control a custom post type single template and enable or disable a sidebar with pinnacle.
