Issue with Data Layer Implementation in “Add to Cart” Events
-
We are experiencing a significant issue on our website, aloise.com.ar, which is integrated with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) using the GTM4WP – A Google Tag Manager plugin for WordPress. Below are the specific issues we’ve encountered:
- Error in Data Layer for “Add to Cart” Event: When a user adds a product to the cart, instead of registering only the selected product, all products displayed on the screen are being recorded. This includes the added product as well as related products shown on the single product page. This behavior is leading to incorrect data in GA4, which negatively impacts our behavior analysis and conversion tracking.
- Empty Data Layer: We have noticed that one of the
data_layer
entries being sent from the website is empty. While we’re not certain if this is related to the main issue, we believe it could be contributing to the inaccurate data collection.
Our primary concern is the discrepancy in the data when the “Add to Cart” button is clicked. This inconsistency is skewing our reports and affecting data-driven decisions.
We need your assistance with:
- Diagnosing and correcting the issue where the
data_layer
is recording multiple products instead of only the product added to the cart. - Investigating why one of the
data_layer
entries is empty and determining if this is related to the overall issue.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your guidance on resolving these issues.
Best regards
