    Hi david –
whenever anyone says “an hour out” I go – here we go again – daylight saving strikes again.

And if they say two hours out – then they have 2 timezones interacting and they BOTH have daylight saving.

SO sorry to be pedantic BUT when you say the site is set for the correct timezone: Note that gmt offsets are what used to be used in wp and they do NOT do daylight saving at all – 1/2 the year the times will be out. It is 100% more accurate if your zone has daylight saving, to use the city/country choice rather.

I see this is Chicago related and a quick google tells me chicago has daylight saving, so I’d bet that you may have some mismatch there.

If not then please post the actual ics link you are using or actually look inside the file yourself to see how the event tz is being communicated.

That is a bunch of crap. Hahaha.
With your help, I was able to put in place the “tz=” to America/Chicago and it fixed itself. I find it interesting that the WP GMT Timezone doesn’t take into account of DST.
Sorry for the crazy question, but I do appreciate your help.

    Hi David,

    just for my curiosity

so was your site using a gmt offset ?
or did you add the tz=America/Chicago to the shortcode ?

NOTE a GMT offset timezone by definition shouldn’t change with daylight saving at all – which countries changes would one apply to which offsets ? – multiple with same offset might have different or no daylight saving
and anyway then the ‘offset’ would be wrong.
It’s simply that that used to be the only choices and people didn’t really understand or mind if their post publish dates were an hour out now and then. ??
