• Hello,

I’ve been reading a lot of these posts on the forum and they have helped a lot! I am hoping I will find some luck with my first questions!

I am trying to add a featured image on a post and it seems to cut off the top 1/3 of the image. I have tried changing the size of the image and it will still cut off the same amount. I feel like the size of the image isn’t the issue because on other olsen light themes I have seen much larger images used as the featured image. If someone could try and help me get to the bottom of this I would greatly appreciate it! Here is the post. Again the full image is being cut off.

My second question is… Has anyone found a plugin that displays a gallery at the bottom of the post like I tried to do? The current plugin I’m using is Unite Gallery. I’m not totally happy with it because I can’t get the images to enlarge when it is clicked on. So basically what I am looking for is a film strip type of layout where I can then enlarge an individual image when clicked on.

Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi!

I used the Instagram Feed Plugin and then I just added it to a text widget!

    Thanks,

    Hello and happy new year!

The post thumbnails on Olsen Light are cropped at 665x435px. The image is first scaled down and then any excess (area that does not match this aspect ratio) gets trimmed off. If all your images are of a different aspect ratio you can modify the default.

What you need to do is install and activate the Simple Image Sizes plugin. Then go to Settings > Media and locate the post-thumbnail size line and change the aspect ratio to match your custom one. Now you need to regenerate all existing images, a few lines below you will see the thumbnail regeneration panel, make sure post-thumbnail is checked (checking just this box will make the process faster) and regenerate your thumbnails. That will do the trick.

Regarding the gallery, if you are looking to create a carousel with a lightbox perhaps MetaSlider can do this for you. Check this post out https://www.metaslider.com/examples/carousel/
