    Hello,
For a while now, I have been having severe problems when I want to import exported snippets back. I do use Windows Server 2019 with the IIS version 10 web server on it.
However, I used this in the past also and I didn’t have problems with that. This worked fine.
Now since weeks it works no longer. I am using the latest version of Code Snippets.
After clicking the Import button, I get the error message: An error occurred when processing the import files. I don’t get any additional information.
I am temporarily working with test website on localhost development environment and cannot share an online URL.
I’m using the latest WordPress version 6.1.1 with the latest PHP version 7.4.33
Thanks for any help on this matter.
    Best Regards.

    Hello,
Is there any news on this yet?
I created a new WordPress website yesterday and there too I had the same problems with importing Code Snippets. It no longer works.
So am I the only one with this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best Regards.

I’ll take a look and see if I can reproduce this. Unfortunately, I do not currently have the capability to test on Windows Server, but I will see what I can do.

    Hello,
Thank you very much. Please feel free to let me know anything I can possibly do myself?

Hi @alainmelsens, @bungeshea, is there any update on getting thjis fixed…? My WIMP stack is similar to @alainmelsens’s and I have exactly the same issue with importing snippets.

Here is my support request which has been completely ignored so far.

Is there any news about this yet? Apparently support doesn’t want to serve everyone here?
I do find this very frustrating. Because apparently this is a serious problem considering there are several similar questions.

For me, though, this is urgent. Of course, it can be solved through an alternative approach. By creating a new snippet and copying and pasting the PHP code into the new snippet. But this requires more time and you cannot copy from a JSon file.
So please, will someone help to solve this?

I tried a similar free code snippets plugin that also has import and export capabilities. This one is called “WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers + Custom Code Snippets – WordPress Code Manager”. It can be found at:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/
I tested the export and import and it does work fine. So there is clearly a problem here with this plugin.
I plan to transfer all my previous PHP code snippets to this other plugin. Will be some work, but maybe safer. This other one already has over a million users. So might also be better…

Sadly this is not fixed… and it does not appear that the developers care enough to try to fix it.

I guess there comes a point in the life of some popular plugins when one or two more 1-star ratings are not going to make a material difference in the overall ratings/pupularity of the plugin… so the developers become apathetic about issues that do not affect their bottom line.

The only suggestion that I can make is to fall back to a version before 2.14.4, do the snippet import, and then update to the latest version again.

Due to lack of real support, I feel obliged to switch to that other plugin. Very regrettable though.
So I will close ticket here since there is no useful feedback anyway.

Meanwhile, I saw that they have then finally fixed the problem after all. With the latest Update 3.3.0 (09 MAR 2022), that problem for importing exported snippets on Windows systems has then been fixed just fine after all. For which my sincere thanks.
Surely the support department did a good job on that although it took a while.

Thank you for testing it out and confirming @alainmelsens!

My apologies for the long delay. It took me a while to get to a stage where I could properly test on a Windows server (usually use unix-based), but once I could identify what the problem was, I made sure to get a fix in ASAP.

Definitely going to make an effort to get onto these sorts of issues much sooner where possible in future!

    Hello,
I apologise for being impatient. I will use your plugin again then anyway as it has more advantages.
Thanks in advance for your efforts to sort this out. That’s why I adjusted my review to 5 stars. ??

No worries at all, it’s definitely helpful to have reminders! Otherwise it can be tricky to tell whether a bug is still occuring in newer versions of if it’s something that was inadvertently fixed.

Either way, glad to have you back on board ?? please do let us know if you notice any other bugs or have any feedback or suggestions.
