• Hi,
I have recently purchased a wordpress theme and I would like to manage it locally.
    I am using a mac.

    What I did:
    1. Unzipped and placed wordpress files under Applications/MAMP/htdocs/website_name
    2. Change MAMP preferences by setting Document Root to Applications/MAMP/htdocs

When I fired up a browser @ localhost:8888/website_name I can see the “Index of /” page. When I click on wp-admin I get the following message:

“The requested URL /wp-admin/ was not found on this server.”

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello.
In MAMP, Hosts tab > Extended > Options for <Directory> directive: and un-tick the Indexes radio button (this being ticked will permit viewing of the Index of a site).

The Document Root should be set to the directory location, e.g. Applications/MAMP/htdocs/website_name (a folder).

    Good luck!

my suggestion is . you can use xampp.

you file keep in right file. in htdocs file.

You can Use Wamp, i think wamp is better because it’s light and flexible !
