Changing the “read more link” (to a certain post) in one event causes the read more links in the related translated events (with PolyLang) to change as well, so they end up all pointing to the same post in the same language.

    Hi,

You mean the read more link in the editor, while adding the event? Other fields such as location and summary are working as expected when switching language?

    Hi Guido

    Thanks for you reply!

Yes, in the editor. I just checked and indeed, if I change something in Location, it is changed in the related events (the other languages) as well. But since it is about the same event, it is mostly the link when they click on “Read more” that should point to different posts (in different languages)

    Hi Veerle,

Please take a look at my replies in this somewhat related topic. In short: you must activate custom post type support via Polylang settings, and create event page and events in both languages.

    Hi Guido

I saw the topic. If I switch of “Events” in the settings of Polylang, then you can’t translate the events any more. The columns with flags, pencils, + are gone next to the events. Events in different languages are not related any more.

I guess then you can do what Polylang does by creating your own categories for each language and filtering them by this category. I guess that is the solution in the former topic. But that is more like a work around because that is exactly what the plugin Polylang should do …

It seems to me (when I keep the setting on, so I use Polylang to make translations for an event by clicking on the + next to an event) that instead of making a new database-entry it overwrites the existing one. Could that be the case?

    Hi Guido

I am going to try a different setting. Maybe that is the setting meant in the previous topic. Due to the translations (my website is in “Nederlands”) I might have picked an other setting. I keep you informed if that is working or not.

    Hi Guido

It seems to do the trick … ??

So in “Nederlands” : dashboard, “Talen” (Polylang), “Instellingen”,

“Aangepaste berichttypes en taxonomie?n”, ” Evenementen” ON

    “Synchronisatie”, “Aangepaste velden” OFF

    Thanks for your time!
