    Hi,

I am having issues when setting Primary categories, that are not being taken into consideration for the permanent link.

    Example:
ProductA is assigned to 2 sub-categories:
    1) mysite/cat1/sub-cat1/productA
    2) mysite/cat1/sub-cat2/productA

I select sub-cat1 as primary category, so I expect to have permalink 1).
    However, the permalink is 2).

This behaviour is not a rule. In some products it works fine. In others it works like the example.

Could someone explain what is happening or how to fix it?

    Thank you!
    Mariana.

By default the primary category does not impact the permalink structure. If you are using WooCommerce, we included a fix in the Yoast SEO WooCommerce add-on.

If you are using another product plugin or manually creating a product post type, please contact the author or support team for the plugin to request compatibility with our primary category feature. This GitHub report may help them with the integration.

    Hi,

I thought “Primary category” was a feature to choose permalink and keep it static.
What is the purpose of setting the “Primary category”?

    Thank you,
    Mariana.

The primary category determines the most important category for use in breadcrumb output.

    Hi,

I recently noticed that breadcrumb for some products has changed.
Strange behaviour because the product Configuration is fine, but Breadcrumb is showing something different.

ProductA is assigned to 2 sub-categories:
    (1) /cat1/sub-cat1
    (2) /cat1/sub-cat2

Weeks ago, Primary category was set to (1) and Breadcrumb was displaying fine when visiting the site.
Now, I noticed Breadcrumb has changed and shows (2). However, product configuration is still with (1) as primary category.

Could this be possible? Any help?

    Thanks for your understanding!
