• I’ve been having an issue on and off with a client’s site since it was launched in October last year. I think I accidentaly published the site with the ‘Search engine visibility’ checkbox checked but noticed this soon after and removed this so the site could be indexed.

After a couple of months, the client mentioned they couldn’t find their site online, so I logged in and this box was checked again. I unchecked and then every time I check the option every month it seems to be checked again. The DB is showing blog_public as 1 which is fine but I’m not sure what could be causing this to keep happening?

    Thanks in advance
    Kieran

  • I have never experienced this before. You use Yoast for SE optimization as far as I can see. Even that should not affect this setting in the form. The only assumption would be that your browser loads the marker from its own cache. If you see the checkmark set again, check robots.txt to see if everything is set to Disallow there: https://jmilneelectrical.co.uk/robots.txt – if so, then the checkmark also has a functional effect and not only your browser is to blame.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve also never seen this happen before on any of the other sites I have done, mostly using Yoast. I’m only using a few plugins, most of which I’ve used on other sites and not had this issue. I’ll be sure to check the robots.txt if this happens again though.
